Philip Steele is the Future Technologies Evangelist at Octopus Energy where he leads an international R&D team researching, experimenting & launching innovative new Energy Tech solutions such as half-hourly time-of-use import and export tariffs, integration to world leading platforms such as IFTTT and Amazon Alexa, and various electric vehicle chargers, solar & battery systems, home heating and other smart home & IoT products. Phil is also responsible for grant funded research projects such as community energy schemes, alternative grid charging solutions, whole-home electrification and energy system cyber security. Phil led the launches of products services including the smart meter CAD devices, Powerloop tariff, Fan Club service, Electric Match tariff, Solar Sharing charity donations service and most recently the launch of Tenant Power. Previously Phil ran his own Smart Home company, helped launch a mobile advertising startup in Canada, and delivered numerous innovations at O2 such as messaging, pre-pay & mobile internet. Phil is married with three children whom he frequently tests technology on.
