After a brief career as a climate scientist, Andy changed tack and launched his own company, Midsummer Energy. From small beginnings (the first stock room was the front cabin of a narrowboat) Midsummer has grown to become one of the biggest distributors of solar panels, battery storage and heat pumps in the UK and Ireland.

These days Andy concentrates mainly on the software that Midsummer has created for designing renewable energy systems - Easy PV for solar and battery systems, and Heatpunk for heat pumps. He is also involved in several other startups in the renewables space, including recently co-founding Eleven Energy, a company bringing a sodium ion battery to the UK market.
