Kieran Fitsall
Kieran has led Brighton & Hove Council's EV Infrastructure team since November 2023, a new government-funded initiative to expand the city's charging network. Brighton & Hove boasts over 500 chargepoints, making it the best-connected city outside London, with 83% of residents without off-street parking within a 5-minute walk of one.
Kieran began his career in parking at Westminster City Council in 1994, managing Europe's largest parking operation with contracts exceeding £28m and generating over £70m in revenue. His expertise in parking, procurement, technology, and policy led to his promotion to Head of Service Improvement and Transformation in 2014.
Kieran credits his time at Westminster for providing insight into managing a successful parking service in a complex environment. He emphasises collaboration with innovative suppliers, a talented team, and government support as key to transforming parking in Westminster, making it easier and fairer for all road users, reducing congestion and journey times.
Drawn to innovation, Kieran joined UK tech start-up AppyWay in 2018 as Regional Director for Asia-Pacific after moving to Australia. Following a career sabbatical as a restaurant owner in Sydney, he returned to the UK in 2023. His early involvement with EVs at Westminster made the Brighton & Hove opportunity a perfect fit.
Beyond Westminster, Kieran chaired the Department for Transport’s Smarter Parking Forum and is actively involved with the British Parking Association and Parking Australia. He maintains his interest in transportation, particularly e-mobility, and has undertaken consultancy roles for councils and government representatives.
