Derek is the General Manager of Nevo.ie which is Ireland's only dedicated electric vehicle platform. It is the destination website in Ireland for those thinking of switching to an electric vehicle. Nevo also has an Advisory service helping businesses with fleets transition to electric. In 2020, Derek launched the “Nevo EV Review Ireland” channel on YouTube. His aim is to drive the awareness and adoption of electric vehicles and this has grown to become Ireland's leading EV YouTube channel. Derek reviews a variety of electric vehicles from cars, e-bikes, and scooters to electric vans and buses. Derek also sits on the committee for the Irish Electric Vehicle Owners Association and the EV Association of Northern Ireland. Derek is now a regular EV contributor on national and local media and has also been the co-chair for the recent 2023 Irish EV Summit.  Outside of the world of EVs, Derek was in the fire service for 14 years along with running a number of his own businesses over the years in printing, property and his family business which is a decorating store and a furniture store.
